Summer 1. Sommer 0.

Our air conditioning broke this weekend. Again. This happened to us last year, at this exact time of year, also on a weekend. Since the summers in Houston are about 4 degrees cooler than sitting directly on the sun, and I get CRANKY in the heat, A/C is a must. I noticed the house a little warm on Thursday and Friday. It was warm, but not unbearable. Yesterday, however, was a different story. Friends came over and we hung out. They deserve some sort of medal for hanging out with us all day in the sweltering sauna we call our house. Late afternoon yesterday it was 83 in the house. It was actually much cooler and nicer outside. But since the layout of our house is just dumb, we can't get a cross breeze. Good times.

So this afternoon we went and hung out with our friends Tim and Andrea. They're the proud parents to be of Claire, Grayden's future girlfriend, and parents to Gerty the dog, Harwell's current girlfriend. They also have a pool at their apartment. We went over to cool off and to take Grayden swimming for the first time.

It went pretty well. Grayden didn't cry or fuss at all. He just kind of floated around, trying to figure out why his bathtub was so big and why we were all in it with him. He was very confused. It was pretty cute.

Hopefully we will be able to get someone out tomorrow to fix the A/C. It's supposed to be 88 tomorrow and 90 by the end of the week. I think it's safe to say that summer is not going to wait for a silly thing like the calendar and is kicking it's way through our front door.

So enjoy the pictures of Grayden in the pool for the first time, and keep your fingers crossed that someone, anyone, will come out to fix our air before I melt into the floor.
Daddy had a hat on and Grayden wasn't quite sure what to think
